Emmy Montemurro-Baxter

Helping you organize your thoughts so clearer choices follow

About Me

Collaboration sits at the centre of how Emmy Montemurro-Baxter works. Whether she is sitting with an individual sorting through a painful life transition, a couple struggling to be heard by each other, or a family pulling in too many directions at once, her aim is the same: to build a calm, unhurried relationship in which real exploration becomes possible. People find their way to Emmy carrying anxiety, depression, the aftermath of abuse, grief over a marriage ending, or the quiet exhaustion of a career that has taken more than it has given — and she meets each of them where they are.

Sometimes that exhaustion has a particular texture — the sense of being constantly reachable yet somehow unreached, exchanging messages all day while the feeling of being genuinely known slips further away. Emmy draws on a range of established frameworks, including Client-Centred, Solution-Focused, Narrative, and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, weaving them together in a way that fits each person’s specific situation rather than asking anyone to fit a method.

A Registered Psychotherapist, Emmy also holds credentials as a registered marriage and family therapist and an accredited family mediator, with additional training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Parenting Coordination. She has been providing counselling since 1992 and offers sessions online as well as in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
