Jessica Willemsen holds a conviction that healing is not given to a person — it is uncovered from within them. The Licensed Clinical Social Worker, based in Overland Park, Kansas, has built her practice around this idea: that each person already carries the courage and capacity for recovery, even when those qualities have been buried beneath years of pain. Her work is about excavation, not rescue.
Jessica works with women and adolescents — including survivors of trauma, abuse, and neglect, people in the grip of alcohol or drug addiction, and those living with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, or dissociative symptoms. She brings to each client a toolkit that spans EMDR (for which she holds both therapist certification and consultant approval through EMDRAIA), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Ego State Therapy, Family Systems Theory, expressive and art therapy, and mindfulness-based practices including meditation and conscious breathing.
Her clinical philosophy resists a one-size approach. The path toward emotional freedom looks different for every person, and Jessica’s role is to know the terrain well enough to guide each individual along their own. She offers online sessions in addition to in-person care, and a free initial consultation is available through her website, denovomentalhealth.com.
