Gordon Steil

My clients include teens, adults, couples and families, among them people who found earlier therapy unhelpful and people doubtful about therapy or afraid to begin. I am Gordon (Gordy) Steil, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Berkeley, California.

I also work with people who wonder whether anyone could grasp their history, who fear their feelings, who are unsure where to start, or who know what they want to work on but sense more lies beneath it. Clients may come for relief from negative thoughts, painful feelings and self-sabotaging behaviors that grew out of upbringings that were difficult, traumatic or confusing, or from discouragement, hopelessness and feeling stuck.

The work covers both understanding and change, with a flexible, collaborative approach that combines processing and problem-solving to address the causes of suffering and stuckness. I explore what brings deeper joy, and I aim for more flexibility, focus, connection and vitality. I also supervise associate therapists.
