Relational and attachment-informed ideas sit at the center of my work. I’m Allison Waldron, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and the origins of patterns interest me, along with how they can change.
I work with thoughtful adults who want to learn where their patterns began and why they continue. Concerns I work on include self-criticism, perfectionism, people-pleasing, anxious thought patterns, communication and boundaries.
Psychodynamic ideas, Compassion Focused Therapy and self-compassion practices inform my work, and I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) elements when they help interrupt anxious thought patterns. Sessions are reflective, practical and conversational, and they develop skills for communicating clearly, putting limits in place without guilt, and responding instead of reacting. My aim is to help clients build a steadier self-concept that does not rest on perfection or on constant validation.
