I practice cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in a goal-oriented, collaborative way, noticing and reworking unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. I am Aynur Fox, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Jersey City, New Jersey. Among the concerns I work with are anxiety, depression and eating disorders rooted in difficult life experiences.
Sessions look at the links between thoughts, emotions and actions, build insight and develop strategies for easing distress. Cognitive restructuring, skill-building and psychoeducation provide ways to question distorted thinking, handle emotions and act on their values. I combine CBT with motivational interviewing to push back on negative thinking and raise motivation.
Persistent worry, intrusive thoughts and chronic stress are also part of the work, and each can have an effect on relationships, focus and general well-being. I work with clients through online therapy, and the first sessions are used to build a treatment plan tailored to each client.
