You set the goals; she helps you find the ground to stand on.

About Me

Cynthia Schoppmann holds a Master’s in Counselling and Spirituality from Saint Paul University and a post-graduate diploma in Couples Counselling, a foundation she has built on through work across a wide range of settings β€” from employee assistance programs and a women’s shelter to the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Medicine and Ontario’s Victim Quick Response Program. That breadth of experience has shaped a practice attentive to the particular pressures facing first responders, military members and veterans, Indigenous and First Nations clients, and people navigating the aftermath of trauma, abuse, and violence.

In her private practice, Cynthia works with older adolescents, adults, and couples dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship difficulties, burnout, borderline personality disorder, substance use, and more β€” meeting people wherever they are in that process. She notes that for many clients, the inability to simply stop and rest β€” to step away from the phone, the notifications, the expectation of constant availability β€” is no longer a matter of preference but a genuine strain on the nervous system that brings people to therapy.

Cynthia takes a client-centred, integrative approach, collaborating with each person to set their own goals. Sessions are available in person, by phone, or via secure video, with flexible scheduling including evenings and weekends. Sliding-scale rates are offered through supervised interns for those without extended benefits.
