Walking into a first session with Desiree Gagnon, the expectation isn’t to have answers ready — it’s simply to arrive. She creates room for people to speak what they’ve kept quiet: the grief that hasn’t lifted, the hurt carried forward from old wounds, the sense of being unseen that can trail someone from a broken relationship all the way into a sleepless night, phone in hand, thoughts circling. What lives beneath those moments is exactly where her work begins.
Desiree is a Registered Psychologist based in St. Albert, Alberta, working with adults navigating grief and loss, trauma, PTSD, abandonment, anxiety, and relationship difficulties — including first responders and law enforcement carrying occupational injuries sustained on the job. She works from an Emotionally Focused Therapy framework, supported by EMDR and Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy training, helping clients understand not just what they feel but the deeper needs those feelings are pointing toward.
Through that process, patterns become clearer, old wounds lose some of their grip, and something steadier begins to take shape — a more grounded relationship with oneself and with others. Desiree offers in-person sessions in St. Albert and online appointments, with direct billing available to Alberta Blue Cross and Medavie Blue Cross.
