At the heart of Dilnawaz Ashgar’s practice is a quiet conviction: that people already carry within them what they need to move through hard times. As a Registered Psychotherapist based in Burlington, Ontario, Ashgar works with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, anger, communication difficulties, and the upheaval that major life changes can bring. Her role, as she sees it, is not to hand over answers but to help those resources surface.
She brings a curious, unhurried presence to that work, drawing on an eclectic blend of CBT, DBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, and the Gottman Method — tools that also translate well for clients whose anxiety is fed by the relentless pull of notifications and the difficulty of ever fully switching off. Sessions are delivered online, and Ashgar holds the space with warmth, without judgment, and with a genuine respect for the courage it takes to begin.
Ashgar holds a graduate degree in Applied Psychology from the University of Punjab and a postgraduate diploma in Clinical Counseling and Psychotherapy, complemented by DBT certification from Toronto’s Centre for MindBodyHealth and Gottman Level 1 and Level 2 training for couple counseling. She is a member in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
