My work is primarily person-centered and trauma-informed, and sessions usually begin with mindfulness, which means noticing without judging. I’m Ella Davidson, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Berkeley, California, and I offer in-person and online therapy to adults, teens and children of elementary age and up.
I enjoy working with youth of all ages, as well as BIPOC, mixed-race and queer clients and people of marginalized genders. A strong inner critic, which may come from trauma, anxiety or perfectionism, is something I find this approach especially suited to.
I offer child-centered play therapy and expressive arts in person to children age 12 and under, along with collateral sessions with parents. With teens, I use experiential approaches, creative options and talk therapy, and I address divorce, family dynamics, anxiety, transitions and self-esteem. For trauma, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and childhood and sexual abuse, I use somatic interventions. A social justice framework guides my work.
