Emma DeRaaf holds a conviction that most people who walk into a difficult season already carry what they need to get through it — the work of therapy is helping them find and use it. That belief is personal: Emma’s own early struggles with depression and anxiety eventually led her to a counsellor who changed the course of her life, and the clarity she found there became the reason she chose this work.
A Registered Psychotherapist based in Oakville, Ontario, Emma works with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families facing anxiety, depression, eating disorders, addiction, developmental concerns, and the friction that can build inside relationships and careers. She draws primarily on cognitive behavioural therapy and narrative therapy, and also brings experience in attachment therapy, family systems therapy, exposure therapy, and Christian counselling for those whose faith shapes how they want to approach healing.
Emma’s sessions are available online. Her aim in every one of them is straightforward: to make sure people feel steady enough to tell their story honestly, and then to help them build forward from exactly where they are.
