My training and research cover how trauma that repeats, along with doubt and dissociation, can shape one’s sense of identity. My name is Jeremy Cooper, and I counsel in Richardson, Texas, as a Licensed Professional Counselor.
I specialize in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), dissociation, men’s issues and grief. My experience includes complex PTSD and how it touches relationships and personality, as well as dissociative disorders, mainly dissociative identity disorder. I also work with depersonalization and derealization.
Men who find traditional ideas about masculinity hard to reconcile with emotional difficulties are also part of my work, and we look at expressing emotion to release pain and at how this shapes their view of masculinity. I also focus on how people adjust after catastrophes. My approaches include attachment theory, existential therapy, psychoanalytic and psychodynamic therapy, internal family systems and interpersonal neurobiology. My training includes supervision in psychodynamic therapy, along with continuing education and case consulting.
