I see caregivers and children who have lived through trauma, and I also help caregivers and children adapting to a foster placement. I am Kari Rehmann, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in East Lansing, Michigan. My clinical experience includes children who have a diagnosis of developmental delays, and I work with families from many cultural backgrounds.
Trauma, along with stress-related emotions and behaviors, is my specialty. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy and Child-Parent Psychotherapy, and I combine clinical art therapy with evidence-based practices. Child-Parent Psychotherapy treats parent and child together, and it serves toddlers, infants and young children who have been through stress, trauma, loss or separation.
I offer individual and family counseling for children and families at any developmental stage when social, emotional or behavioral challenges arise. Protective factors in primary relationships are something I work to strengthen.
