I draw on training in Somatic Experiencing and the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM), along with a meditation practice, in my work as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in San Mateo, California. I’m Kyoko Tsuchiya, and I offer psychotherapy in both English and Japanese, integrative in style, including online therapy throughout California.
My approach is an integrative body-mind-spirit one that is body-oriented, relational and trauma-informed, with mindfulness set at a pace that suits each client. I aim to build emotional regulation, self-trust and resilience along with more fulfilling relationships, and to restore creativity and hope, in service of a more authentic life.
I work with adults and couples, including cross-cultural couples. I also work with immigrants, first-generation people, and mixed-race individuals and couples, around culture, identity and belonging. Concerns include trauma, complex post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, grief, complex medical conditions and women’s issues. Trauma can include childhood neglect, verbal, physical or sexual abuse, bullying, domestic violence, immigration-related trauma, natural disasters and sudden loss.
