My name is Mariya, and I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I work with adults navigating grief, trauma, relationship challenges, and major life transitions — the kind of experiences that sit heavier than anticipated and leave you uncertain about where to step next.
My practice draws on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused approaches. I work toward building practical coping tools and meaningful insight at the same time, because one without the other doesn’t tend to stick. I bring my own experience and values into the therapeutic relationship — not to centre myself, but because genuine connection is what makes real work possible, and that requires showing up as a full person rather than a neutral surface.
I strive to create a space where people can be honest about where they actually are — not where they feel they ought to be — and feel genuinely seen rather than assessed. I want every session to leave you with something: clarity, a new angle, a sense of being met.
I’m currently working with individual adults and intend to expand into work with youth and teens over time. I’m also committed to deepening my skills continuously — the learning doesn’t stop, and what my clients bring keeps teaching me.
