Michael Dean

Psychotherapy that takes the whole person seriously, including the spiritual.

About Me

Michael Dean brings nearly five decades of immersion in psychotherapy to his Toronto practice — as a participant, a student, and ultimately a clinician who has spent twenty-five years in private work with individuals. Registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, he also holds advanced certification in psychoanalytic psychotherapy from the Toronto Psychoanalytic Society, and trained for years within supervised groups examining Jungian counter-transference and transpersonal approaches to the psyche. That layered formation shapes how he listens and where he looks.

Dean works with men and women navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, and the strains that gather inside relationships — communication that has broken down, marriages under pressure, the aftermath of separation, or the particular exhaustion that accumulates when someone never fully steps away from the demands pressing in on them. He offers both short-term therapy oriented toward specific outcomes and longer-term work aimed at the roots of persistent difficulty.

His orientation is explicitly non-judgmental and holds that human experience has a spiritual dimension — something that sits alongside, rather than apart from, his psychodynamic and psychoanalytic training. Sessions are available online, making his practice accessible across Ontario.
