Paul McNulty

About Me

When people arrive at Paul McNulty’s door, they often carry something they haven’t been able to name — a persistent dread, a relationship fraying at the edges, a version of themselves they no longer recognize. McNulty, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 23 years in private practice and school settings, works with children, teenagers, adults, men, and women navigating anxiety disorders, depression, mood and adjustment difficulties, impulse control, and the particular exhaustion of feeling constantly reachable yet somehow unseen by the people who matter most.

His approach draws on a short-term solutions framework paired with Cognitive Behavioral strategies, tailoring the work to what each person actually needs rather than a fixed script. For anxiety specifically, he applies Exposure and Response Prevention, an evidence-based method that meets fear directly rather than working around it. His training spans Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, trauma and loss, and crisis intervention, giving him a broad clinical foundation for complex presentations.

McNulty completed his graduate studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago and holds certificates in REBT and Trauma and Loss. He is an active participant in the Chicago New Warrior Community and brings particular commitment to men’s work. Online sessions are available.
