Ricky Giesbrecht believes the most useful thing a therapist can do is help someone think differently about what they’re already facing. Based in Orillia, Ontario, he works as a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) with a Master’s degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, and his style runs relaxed and conversational β more focused on getting to the root of an issue than circling around it. He’s particularly drawn to asking the kind of questions that shift how a person sees their situation, opening up approaches they hadn’t yet considered.
Since beginning his practice in 2013, Ricky has worked across a wide range of settings β nonprofit agencies, community health centres, and mental health hospitals β contributing to the launch of new provincial programs along the way. He started with a strong foundation in marriage and family therapy, and that training still shapes how he identifies and works through relationship dynamics. He holds his clinical knowledge to a high standard, staying current with research and engaging seriously with leading thinkers in the field.
Ricky works with teenagers, adults, and seniors navigating anxiety, mood concerns, trauma, burnout, impulse control, and relationship difficulties β including the kind of low-grade dread that builds when the phone is always within reach and the workday never fully ends. He offers both in-person and online sessions.
