I work with people in service or healthcare jobs and with people interested in how mental health and faith connect. I am Sarah Jacks, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Fort Worth, Texas, and my training covers easing the impact of stress and trauma. Concerns include grief, job-related stress, attachment and finding more satisfaction in life outside the profession.
My approach is eclectic and includes Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which helps both brain and body work through stress carried from earlier events, crises or trauma. It also suits clients who feel stuck.
In Acceptance and Commitment Therapy I work with choice points, where a person may head toward or away from what makes life meaningful, helping clients address past trauma and build a stronger sense of authentic self. To move clients toward secure attachment, I use grief work, an ACA group, EMDR or attachment-based exploration. Grief work with me is warm and accepting, with room for each person’s own way through loss.
