When people finally pick up the phone or send that first message, Sharron Carson wants them to know they’ve reached somewhere that won’t judge them for waiting. A Registered Psychotherapist based in Hamilton, Ontario, with three decades of practice behind her, Sharron works with children, teenagers, adults, and older adults navigating addiction, anxiety, mood disorders, depression, personality disorders, abuse, and the full weight of personal and family struggle.
Her path into this field wasn’t academic in origin — it was personal. Growing up alongside a family member with serious mental illness, then supporting her daughter through her own challenges, then facing her own anxiety and depression, gave her a practitioner’s training that no classroom provides. She began her career in psychiatric nursing and moved through hospital mental health units and community settings before establishing her current psychotherapy practice. That clinical background means she understands psychiatric symptoms, medication contexts, and how to help clients navigate a medical system that can feel overwhelming.
Sharron draws on DBT, CBT, EMDR, and mindfulness — she finds that teaching concrete coping skills, the kind a person can actually reach for when the anxiety spikes at midnight or the urge hits, makes a real difference between sessions. Her approach keeps the client’s voice at the centre: their needs, their pace, their sense of control. Online sessions available throughout Ontario.
