Sherry Maxwell

Helping people gain real ground, at their own pace

About Me

For Sherry Maxwell, good counselling begins with meeting people exactly where they are — not where they think they should be. A Registered Psychotherapist based in Cambridge, Ontario, Sherry draws on a broad range of therapeutic approaches, adapting her methods to the individual rather than fitting people to a single model. Her work spans individual counselling, marriage and family therapy, mediation, coaching, and crisis and trauma support, with a particular attentiveness to the spiritual dimensions of personal struggle.

She works with children, teenagers, adults, and the elderly across a wide range of concerns: anxiety, depression, abuse recovery, addiction, workplace burnout, and the particular exhaustion that comes when a person can never quite leave work behind — when the job arrives with the phone and the boundary between on and off simply disappears. Sherry also brings training and sensitivity to family conflict, learning difficulties, and the needs of individuals with special needs.

Sherry holds a Bachelor of Psychology from the University of Waterloo and a Master of Theological Studies in Pastoral Counselling from Wilfrid Laurier University, with clinical training at two counselling centres in Ontario. She is a member of the OACCPP. Her own experience of life’s full range — its difficulties as much as its rewards — informs the genuine empathy she brings to every client. Online sessions are available.
