William Stokeld

Tailored support for the whole person, not just the problem

About Me

Most people contact William Stokeld when something has finally shifted — when the drinking has started affecting relationships, when anxiety has made ordinary days feel unmanageable, or when patterns learned long ago in a difficult household are quietly running the show. William is a Registered Psychotherapist based in Hamilton, Ontario, working with teenagers, young adults, and adults who are navigating addictions, mood and anxiety disorders, abuse, and the family-of-origin beliefs that can shadow a person well into adulthood.

He brings an eclectic approach to his work, building a style around each client rather than applying a single method to everyone. That flexibility reflects a genuine conviction: people are distinct, and what restores one person’s sense of stability won’t necessarily restore another’s. He thinks about wellbeing in terms of balance across physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual dimensions — when any one of those starts to give way, the whole structure feels it. For clients whose worry follows them from screen to screen, never quite switching off at the end of the day, that imbalance often has somewhere specific to begin.

William’s path to counselling started with a significant life disruption of his own — a career change in mid-life that he eventually came to see as an opening. He holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and offers sessions online.
