My work serves adults facing grief and loss, life transitions, low self-worth, caregiving, relationship difficulties and burnout. Anxiety, depression and difficulty handling day-to-day life can accompany these concerns. I am Christina Imada, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Chula Vista, California, and I work in an integrative, compassionate way.
I draw on Polyvagal Theory, Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy and mindfulness-based self-compassion. I view difficulties as protective responses that experience has shaped. Sessions look at how earlier experiences can appear as grief, anxiety, stress or low self-worth, and at how emotions influence both the nervous system and the body.
Clients set goals around what matters to them, such as building self-esteem, strengthening relationships, clarifying values, identifying triggers or self-understanding, and the plan is adjusted if those goals change. My first session is a more structured one, centered on a client’s background and goals. I explain how I work, and clients can ask questions.
