Monica Gyimah

Strength-based care rooted in dignity, equity, and common humanity.

About Me

Monica Gyimah builds her practice around a simple conviction: that navigating life’s hardest passages requires both clinical skill and genuine human understanding. Working entirely online, she meets clients where they are — whether that means helping a caregiver manage the weight of a parent’s declining health, supporting someone through the disorientation of immigration and cultural adjustment, or working with a family whose conflicts now unfold as much over text threads as around the kitchen table. Her approach draws on cognitive behavioural therapy, narrative therapy, and solution-focused models, always anchored in each person’s existing strengths rather than their deficits.

Monica holds a Master of Social Work from Carleton University, with specialization in adult mental health and geriatric care, and a Master of Laws from Lancaster University focused on human and social rights. She is a Registered Social Worker in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, bringing nearly fourteen years of experience in healthcare, elder care, dementia, capacity and consent, and crisis intervention. She works in English and Akan, and serves teenagers, young adults, men, and women dealing with anxiety, depression, burnout, chronic illness, and the particular strains of caring for aging parents.

Clients consistently describe Monica as warm, ethical, and fiercely respectful of individual dignity. Her goal is straightforward: to help people recognize their own capacities so they can move forward on their own terms.
