When clients first come to Jannae Turley, they often arrive carrying something heavy β depression that has dulled the color out of ordinary days, anxiety that won’t quiet down, or the long shadow of trauma they haven’t been able to outrun. Some are struggling with compulsive behaviors that have taken on new shapes, like the pull of endless scrolling or gaming that started as escape and became something harder to put down. Jannae, a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Independence, Missouri, works with teenagers, young adults, men, women, and older adults facing these kinds of struggles β along with abuse recovery, family conflict, and the grief of lives that haven’t gone as hoped.
Her approach is nonjudgmental and client-centered: she believes each person already holds the truth they need, and her role is to help them access it. She draws on EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapy, and trauma-informed care, tailoring the pace and method to the individual. Animal-assisted therapy with her dog, Selah, is also part of her practice. For clients whose faith matters to them, she offers Christian and biblical counseling alongside her clinical work.
Jannae holds hope on behalf of clients who aren’t yet able to hold it for themselves β and she takes that responsibility seriously. Online sessions are available.
