Allison Gaydos built her practice around a central insight: that the painful experiences people carry from early life don’t simply recede with time — they stay active in the nervous system, quietly shaping how someone feels in the present moment. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Jersey City, she works with that gap between past and present, using EMDR to help the brain fully metabolize traumatic memories so they lose their grip. She also draws on clinical hypnosis and somatic and relational approaches, weaving them together so that healing moves through the body as much as the mind.
Her clients include adults who grew up with emotionally immature parents, people in their twenties finding their footing, college students, and survivors of physical, sexual, or emotional abuse — many of them carrying self-doubt and perfectionism alongside deeper wounds. The body-based focus of her work is also well-suited for people who spend hours each day in a state of low-grade alertness, scrolling and reacting, when somatic grounding can interrupt that cycle and restore a felt sense of calm.
Allison offers in-person sessions at Cultivate Therapy near Journal Square in Jersey City and sees clients virtually across New York and New Jersey. She accepts out-of-network insurance and guides clients through the reimbursement process from start to finish.
