With a background that spans broadcast journalism, clinical training, and published authorship, Sam Louie brings an unusually layered perspective to mental health counseling. Before entering private practice, he spent more than a decade as an Emmy Award-winning journalist covering stories on relationships, addictions, and recovery — work that shaped a precise, human-centered way of understanding how people get stuck and how they find their way out. He holds a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in marriage and family therapy, and completed sixty hours of specialized training in sexual addiction through the CSAT program developed by Dr. Patrick Carnes.
Based in Bellevue, Washington, Sam works with individuals, couples, families, and groups navigating addiction, relational wounds, abuse recovery, and the psychological weight of cultural identity. He is a particular resource for those struggling with compulsive behaviors — including the pull of online gaming or gambling, where familiar reward loops take on new forms and can quietly reorganize someone’s daily life before they fully recognize what’s happening.
He is also the author of Asian Honor: Overcoming the Culture of Silence, a book weaving together Asian cultural experience, faith, and addiction recovery. Online sessions are available.
