At the heart of Nadia Hovencamp’s practice is a simple conviction: people already hold the expertise about their own lives — what they often need is a skilled, compassionate partner to help them access it. A Registered Social Worker based in Kingston, Ontario, Nadia works with individuals, couples, and families across a wide range of concerns, from anxiety, depression, and PTSD to disordered eating, domestic abuse, parenting conflict, and addiction — including the compulsive pull of internet and gaming habits that can quietly crowd out the rest of daily life.
Nadia draws on narrative, cognitive-behavioural, solution-focused, and trauma-informed approaches, tailoring each to the person in front of her rather than applying a fixed framework. She has particular depth working with children’s mental health, parent-child dynamics, and the lasting effects of trauma and vicarious stress. Family systems and attachment-based methods inform her work with both relational conflict and individual struggles such as disordered eating and mood disorders.
Sessions are available online, and for those who find it easier to open up away from a desk, Nadia also offers walking sessions at Kingston’s waterfront and natural spaces. She holds a Master of Social Work and a Bachelor of Social Work from Memorial University of Newfoundland.
