Alex Ehrsam holds a core conviction that most human struggle traces back to relationships — and that repairing those relationships requires more than insight alone. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Overland Park, Kansas, Alex built his practice around emotional intelligence: not as a concept to read about, but as something to be demonstrated, practiced, and internalized through direct experience with someone who models it in real time.
His path to this work is anything but conventional. After a full career in corporate technology sales — where he operated at every level from the floor to the executive suite — Alex returned to school at 52, earning a Master’s in Family Therapy from Friends University. That sequence matters to him. He brings genuine fluency in the pressures business professionals carry, and he has observed firsthand how success in a career rarely transfers to ease at home. He works with children, teens, adults, couples, and families navigating conflict, divorce, blended family dynamics, grief, anxiety, anger, and spiritual questions.
His own life — marriage, loss, divorce, and remarriage into a blended family — informs how he sits with clients. He draws on the work of Brené Brown, Dr. John Gottman, Dr. Sue Johnson, Gabor Maté, and others, while maintaining that lived experience and clinical training carry equal weight in this room.
