Cheryl Sparks believes that painful emotional patterns rarely announce themselves clearly — they show up as anxiety that won’t quiet down, distance in a marriage, or a teenager who seems unreachable even when sitting right across the table. As a Licensed Professional Counselor in Wayne, Pennsylvania, she works to trace those patterns back to their roots, helping clients understand how past experiences continue to shape the present. Her approach draws on psychodynamic insight, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy, adjusted to fit what each person actually needs.
Cheryl works with individuals, couples, and families navigating anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma, and relationship conflict — including adults in midlife, parents and children with special needs, and the elderly. For couples, she addresses everything from eroded trust and communication breakdowns to pre-marital preparation and the slow drift that happens when two people can’t find their way back to each other. She is experienced integrating Christian faith and spirituality into the therapeutic process for clients who want that.
Collaborative by nature, Cheryl treats growth as something that happens with a client, not to them. She holds advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy and serves on the faculty of Eastern University’s Marriage and Family Therapy doctoral program. Online sessions are available.
