Chronic pain, chronic illness, and the trauma of being failed by the systems meant to help — that’s the ground Elysia Bronson works on. She’s a Registered Clinical Counsellor based in Abbotsford, British Columbia, offering online sessions to adults across BC and several other Canadian provinces and territories. Her clients are people whose bodies have become both the problem and the battlefield: those living with fibromyalgia, ME/CFS, Long COVID, POTS, EDS, or persistent pain that medicine has struggled to name, let alone treat.
Elysia draws on Pain Reprocessing Therapy, the Safe and Sound Protocol, DBT, CBT, and somatic and nervous-system-informed approaches — pacing the work to what a person’s system can actually sustain. She also lives with chronic illness herself, which means sessions can begin somewhere honest rather than spending months on explanation. She understands, too, how the pressure to stay productive and available — the notification that arrives at 11 p.m., the inbox that doesn’t recognize sick days — compounds the exhaustion her clients are already carrying.
Beyond her private practice, Elysia sits on the Board of the Canadian Pain Society, co-chairs its Interprofessional Special Interest Group, and collaborates with Pain BC on chronic pain education. A free 20-minute consultation is available.
