Most people wait until something has broken down before they call — a relationship strained past its limits, anxiety that won’t quiet, a persistent sense that life should feel different than this. Erica Warder, a Registered Psychotherapist based in Aurora, Ontario, meets clients precisely at that point of arriving, and her work begins with a simple premise: the feelings and patterns that brought someone to her door have a history worth understanding.
Working from a psychodynamic foundation informed by attachment theory, developmental research, and neuropsychology, Erica helps adults, couples, and families with concerns including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, personality disorders, relationship difficulties, and professional burnout. Sessions are collaborative rather than prescriptive — she listens closely while also drawing attention to patterns, tensions, and connections that might otherwise go unnoticed. The goal is not symptom management alone but a deeper understanding of what is driving those symptoms.
Erica trained at the Centre for Training in Psychotherapy, with intensive focus on the unconscious dimensions of inner life. Before that, she studied and performed as a professional musician — an experience that, alongside her own personal therapy, continues to shape the attentiveness and curiosity she brings to every session. Individual sessions are 50 minutes, available in person, by video, or by phone, with a complimentary 30-minute consultation offered to start.
