Gerard Alberts

Careful listening, until the shape of a solution appears.

About Me

When people finally pick up the phone or send that first message, they’re often carrying something they’ve been managing alone for too long. Gerard Alberts, a Registered Psychologist based in Calgary, has spent 25 years meeting people at exactly that point β€” not to direct them, but to listen carefully and without judgment until the shape of a solution starts to emerge. He works with children, teenagers, adults, couples, families, and older adults across a wide range of concerns: anxiety, mood disorders, addictions, relationship difficulties, workplace stress, career transitions, and recovery from abuse.

Gerard’s path into practice ran through music, youth work, school psychology, and leadership roles in employee assistance programs, giving him an unusually broad read on what brings people to counselling. That background shapes how he approaches compulsive patterns in particular β€” whether someone is caught in a cycle with alcohol, gambling, or the same reward loops showing up in gaming or endless scrolling, he recognizes the pull and works from there. He has directed a community counselling centre, managed workplace support programs across Alberta, and taught as associate faculty at City University of Seattle.

Gerard holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Calgary and is an adjunct coach with the Center for Creative Leadership. He offers sessions online as well as in person.
