Kristie Doheny holds that meaningful change begins when treatment is shaped around the person, not the other way around. A licensed psychologist based in Mineola, New York, she has spent 15 years working with children, adolescents, adults, and families, always returning to the same conviction: that no two people arrive in her office carrying identical needs, and no single method should be applied as if they do.
Her practice draws on a range of approaches — play therapy, sandplay, expressive therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, neurofeedback, biofeedback, and person-centered techniques — selected and combined according to what each individual or family actually requires. She also conducts psychological evaluations for ADHD, learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ADOS-2), and developmental delays. Among the people she works with most are those navigating abuse and trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, eating disorders, family conflict, divorce, and coparenting — as well as adults who feel the pressure of a job that never quite clocks out, bleeding into evenings and weekends in ways that are hard to name and harder to push back against.
Online sessions are available. Whether someone is moving through a specific crisis or simply ready to shift direction, Kristie works to meet them where they are.
