Laura MacRae-Serpa holds that real change begins when people finally have room to understand what they’re carrying — and that this kind of understanding rarely arrives on its own. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in South Pasadena, she works with children, teenagers, adults, and families navigating anxiety, mood disorders, chronic illness, family conflict, divorce, and the layered grief that often accompanies major life transitions. When a parent notices their teenager withdrawing into late-night scrolling rather than talking, or finds their own worry trailing them from screen to screen, those are exactly the patterns Laura is trained to help a family examine together.
Her clinical background spans Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where she worked as a Certified Child Life Specialist, and a K–8 school setting providing crisis intervention and family therapy. She holds master’s degrees in both Marriage and Family Therapy and Human Development from Pacific Oaks College. With younger children she draws on play therapy; with older children, adolescents, and adults she uses talk therapy — always with an eye toward strengthening how family members communicate and connect.
Laura’s approach is non-judgmental and culturally sensitive. She offers a free 15-minute phone consultation so prospective clients can get a genuine feel for how they might work together before committing to the process.
