Robyn Brickel

Understanding how trauma lives in the body, relationships, and patterns we repeat.

About Me

Trauma is the thread Robyn Brickel follows through nearly every presenting concern she treats. As founder and clinical director of Brickel and Associates, LLC in Old Town, Alexandria, Virginia, she approaches mood disorders, addiction, eating disorders, self-harm, and perinatal mental health through a trauma-informed, strengths-based lens — always asking how past experience shapes the patterns showing up today in a person’s relationships, body, and sense of self.

Robyn works with teenagers, adults, couples, and families navigating some of the most destabilizing chapters of their lives, from acute crisis and addiction to the slow erosion that comes when work follows people home and the boundary between professional and personal never quite closes. Her clinical toolkit reflects two decades of training: she holds advanced credentials in EMDR through EMDRIA, has pursued specialized study in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and draws on several relational and couples therapy models to meet each client’s needs.

Beyond direct practice, Robyn serves on the faculty at the Institute for Advanced Psychotherapy Training and Education, presenting to clinicians and organizations on topics including adolescent substance use, family impact, and perinatal mental health. Online sessions are available.
