When someone finally decides to reach out for help, it’s often after carrying something heavy for far too long. Abby Schoenberg meets people at exactly that threshold — whether they’re navigating the aftermath of trauma, the weight of grief, the strain of a relationship in crisis, or the slow erosion of their sense of self. She works with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families across a wide range of concerns, from anxiety and mood disorders to abuse recovery, family conflict, and identity.
Abby draws on an integrative framework that threads together psychodynamic, narrative, relational, and client-centered approaches, adapting her methods to each person’s history and needs. She’s a certified provider of EMDR and Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy, and incorporates CBT and Trauma-Focused CBT where they fit. For clients whose nervous systems are stuck in overdrive — the ones who notice they can’t quiet the mental noise even when they put the phone down — her body-based and trauma-informed work offers a concrete path back to steadiness. Online sessions are available.
Abby holds a Master’s in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Psychological Trauma Studies from Antioch University and a Bachelor’s from Harvard University. She is licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences and brings deep experience in community mental health, including work with foster youth, underserved communities, and those navigating systemic inequity. Her practice is grounded in antiracism, equity, and a genuine belief in each client’s capacity to heal.
