Don Collier builds his practice around a simple conviction: that people do better when they feel genuinely understood rather than assessed or advised. The Austin-based LCSW works with individuals navigating health anxiety, medical trauma, difficult diagnoses, and the particular strain that comes with working in high-stakes healthcare environments. His approach draws on practical tools and direct conversation to help clients stay grounded, tolerate uncertainty, and move toward what actually matters to them.
Don works with men, women, and older adults facing a wide range of challenges — including anxiety, depression, substance use, personality and adjustment disorders, and the emotional weight of family stress, divorce, or caring for aging parents. He also supports abuse survivors. Sessions are available online.
Before entering private practice, Don spent time in an emergency department, working alongside people in acute crisis and the clinicians who care for them. That experience shapes how he shows up now: without pressure or pretense, focused on building real trust from the first conversation. His goal for every session, including the first, is that clients leave with something they can use.
