Gwen Lyons

Empowerment begins when someone finally feels seen and heard.

About Me

Healing, for Gwen Lyons, starts with meeting people exactly where they are β€” not where they think they should be. A National Certified Counselor based in Fort Collins, Colorado, she works with adolescents, adults, couples, and families navigating everything from anxiety and addiction to abuse recovery, relationship struggles, and the quiet weight of major life transitions. That includes teenagers caught between the pressures of school, identity, and the relentless pull of their social feeds β€” a tension she takes seriously rather than dismisses.

Gwen’s approach is integrative and person-centered, drawing on cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and somatic and polyvagal techniques. Her Buddhist upbringing, personal experiences, and ongoing commitment to her own growth shape a counseling style that is empathetic and honest β€” never formulaic. She creates space for genuine self-exploration rather than directing clients toward predetermined outcomes.

Before entering clinical practice, Gwen worked in career consulting and with adults with disabilities, experiences that deepened her belief in people’s capacity to change when someone truly sees them. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from SUNY New Paltz and an M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University, and she offers online sessions for clients who prefer to meet remotely.
