The problems people bring to Heidi Matlack rarely arrive alone. Addiction, trauma, anxiety, and relational rupture tend to travel together — and Heidi has spent over two decades in Butte, Montana, learning exactly how they do. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker dually credentialed in mental health therapy and addiction counseling, she holds an unusually integrated view: that what looks like a drinking problem or a compulsion often has its roots in wounds that were never properly named.
She works with teenagers, young adults, men, and women navigating a wide range of concerns — including alcohol and drug addiction, internet and gaming dependencies, domestic and sexual abuse recovery, eating disorders, mood disorders, and the slow erosion of professional burnout. When a client can’t power down at night, treating the sleeplessness alone misses the point; Heidi looks at what the nervous system is still bracing against. Online sessions extend her reach beyond Butte for those who need it.
At the center of her practice is a clinical conviction she returns to consistently: understanding the past traumas that shape today’s struggles isn’t optional — it’s the work.
