Family relationships have been at the centre of Helen Francis’s work for more than three decades β first as a nurse, then as a therapist trained in Family Systems Theory, Mindfulness, Mindful Self-Compassion, and EMDR. That grounding in how families function across generations shapes everything she does, from individual counselling to working with couples and groups navigating anxiety, depression, grief, addiction, and the lingering effects of trauma.
Helen works with a wide range of people: children, teenagers, adults, and seniors, including those managing chronic health conditions or special needs. When a family sits down together and every person is half-present β scrolling, earbuds in, waiting for the conversation to end β she recognises that as its own kind of disconnection worth exploring. Her approach is calm, compassionate, and non-judgmental, drawing on CBT, psychotherapy, and family-of-origin inquiry to help clients understand how their past shapes their present.
Helen practises in Vancouver, BC, and offers online sessions. Please note that she is retiring from clinical practice in December 2026 and is currently welcoming clients through that period.
