Adults and older adults who feel weighed down by their past, worn thin by daily pressures, or simply stuck deserve a counselor who meets them without judgment โ and that is exactly what Jean Snyder offers. Working with men, women, and elderly clients from her practice in Troy, Michigan, Jean addresses a broad range of concerns: depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, abuse recovery, personality and mood disorders, sleep difficulties, and workplace challenges, among others.
Jean holds dual credentials as a Licensed Professional Counselor and an Occupational Therapist, and she draws on both disciplines to shape her work. Her approach centers on the therapeutic relationship itself โ building genuine warmth and trust so clients feel comfortable speaking freely. Between sessions, she assigns purposeful, manageable exercises โ a short reading, a technique to practice, a brief video โ chosen to move each client forward rather than fill time.
Counseling, in Jean’s view, is collaborative work: therapist and client moving together toward clarity, self-forgiveness, and a fuller life. She currently provides sessions online through a secure video platform and accepts several major insurance plans, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, and United Health Care, as well as a limited number of reduced-fee appointments through Open Path.
