Jeffrey Post-Holmberg believes change rarely arrives through insight alone β it comes through relationship, and through the slow, honest work of learning to be present with oneself and with others. Before becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Portland, Oregon, he spent twenty-five years leading mountaineering expeditions across three continents, guiding novices through terrain that demanded not just technical skill but real self-knowledge. What surprised his clients most, he found, was how much they learned about communication, boundaries, and belonging β long before he ever set foot in a therapy office.
He holds a Master’s in Marriage, Couples, and Family Therapy from Lewis and Clark College, with intensive training in EMDR and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. His clinical background includes community-based family work with families carrying multi-generational histories of poverty, broken attachment, and abuse. Jeffrey works with men, women, and older adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and mood disorders, as well as couples and families facing conflict, infidelity, divorce, and the particular exhaustion that comes from a life β and an inbox β that never fully powers down.
Attachment theory, narrative therapy, emotionally focused approaches, and trauma reprocessing all run through his practice, shaped equally by his personal experience of loss, parenting, blended family life, and years of living abroad. Online sessions are available.
