Mary Lyles

Freedom begins when you understand what's driving your thoughts and reactions.

About Me

When people finally pick up the phone to call Mary Lyles, they’ve often been carrying something heavy for a long time — grief that won’t lift, anxiety that follows them from morning coffee to late-night scrolling, or a family relationship that’s quietly fraying. Mary is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Katy, Texas, whose private practice draws on clinical training that began in Houston’s inpatient psychiatric wards and Baylor College of Medicine’s psychiatry clinic in the mid-1990s. That foundation gave her a deep appreciation for how biology, lived experience, and unconscious thought patterns all shape the way people feel and behave.

She works with children, teenagers, adults, couples, and families navigating a wide range of challenges — including trauma and abuse recovery, mood and anxiety disorders, grief, marriage and parenting concerns, and professional burnout. Mary is certified in EMDR, an evidence-based treatment for trauma, and brings a mind-body-spirit lens to her work, helping clients untangle negative automatic thoughts and move toward more grounded, intentional living. Sessions are available online.

Outside the therapy room, Mary co-founded the Children’s Grief Education Association in 2004 and has directed grief programs serving communities across Colorado. She returned to Katy in 2010, where she lives with her husband, children, grandchildren, and a home full of animals she tends alongside her garden.
