Walking into a first session with Paula Mathiasen, clients often find something they didn’t expect: room to breathe. Her approach draws on a wholistic view of the person β physical, emotional, and spiritual β so that whatever someone carries in the door is met with both practical guidance and genuine care. She works from the conviction that every person holds real strengths and a distinct purpose, and that getting unstuck begins with having a place where it’s safe to say what’s actually going on.
Paula works with individuals, couples, and families navigating a wide range of challenges β from anxiety and anger to infidelity, divorce, and the slow erosion that happens when two people in the same house stop really talking, whether that distance shows up at the dinner table or through a string of texts that said too much and not enough. Her training spans clinical diagnosis and treatment, marriage and couples counseling, career concerns, spiritual growth, and support for survivors of abuse and neglect.
Based in Arlington Heights, Illinois, Paula offers telehealth sessions and brings to each one the same orientation: hope is not a platitude but a starting point, and the work of becoming whole is worth doing.
