Richard Scheinberg

You don't have to figure this out alone.

About Me

Families navigating grief, couples caught in conflict, teenagers struggling under pressures their parents can barely recognize — these are the people Richard Scheinberg has spent 27 years showing up for. From his practice in East Islip, New York, he and the Sunrise Counseling Center team work with children, adults, and elderly clients across a wide range of concerns: anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, abuse recovery, and the slow grind of professional burnout, among others.

Richard works with individuals, couples, and families — including those where arguments that began at the dinner table have migrated into texts that nobody quite knows how to stop sending. He holds expertise in crisis intervention, DSM-V diagnosis and treatment, and group counseling, and he extends his reach through online sessions for those who need flexibility.

The philosophy here is straightforward: no one should have to sit with their pain alone. With a clinical team of more than 60 practitioners offering both talk therapy and psychiatric medication management, Sunrise Counseling Center exists to make sure help is genuinely within reach. Free consultations are available for anyone trying to figure out where to start.
