Sheldon Isenberg

Honest conversation that gets to what you actually mean.

About Me

For more than four decades, Sheldon Isenberg has built his practice around one conviction: that honest, direct conversation is itself a form of healing. Working out of Naperville, Illinois, he sees individuals, couples, and families — and has done so long enough to have worked with partners who first came to him as young adults and returned years later with their own aging concerns. He offers opinions when clients want them or when he judges it necessary, and many clients have told him he has a rare ability to hear not just what they say but what they mean.

Sheldon works with a wide range of people and concerns — teenagers and older adults, men who would rather not be in a therapist’s office at all, couples navigating infidelity or interfaith and intercultural differences, and professionals whose relationship difficulties have begun bleeding into their work. He understands that the same worry that used to wait at home now arrives through a phone — a 2 a.m. notification spiral, an inbox that doesn’t respect evenings — and that context matters when people are trying to sort out what is actually wrong.

His goal is straightforward: clients should leave having gotten what they came for, and something more. He holds an MSW from the University of Chicago and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Online sessions are available.
