Jeffrey Gianelli believes that real change begins not at the surface of symptoms but at their source — that understanding where a struggle comes from is what makes lasting transformation possible. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, EMDR Consultant, and Mindful Self Compassion Teacher based in Oakland, California, Jeffrey brings together evidence-based therapies and contemplative traditions in a way that is genuinely integrative: Internal Family Systems, EMDR, ACT, DBT, Breathwork, Buddhist Psychology, and Tibetan healing practices all inform how he meets each person’s specific needs.
He works with individuals and couples navigating trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, addiction, spiritual development, and questions of identity and self-worth, including members of the LGBTQIA+ community and those drawn to Buddhist or mindfulness paths. Couples sometimes arrive carrying conflict that started in a text thread and never quite resolved in person — that too is territory Jeffrey is comfortable working through.
His own healing experience — moving through childhood trauma and chronic anxiety through meditation, self-compassion, and EMDR — shaped a commitment to helping others do the same. The goal, as he describes it, is not simply self-understanding but the ability to release what keeps people from living as their most authentic selves. Sessions are available virtually and in person for clients ages thirteen and up.
