Many clients arrive at Joanna Jewell’s door carrying something they can’t quite name — a persistent unease, a relationship that keeps breaking down in the same place, or a sense that the life they’re living no longer fits. Joanna is a Registered Psychologist (R.Psych) based in Calgary, Alberta, who works with individuals, couples, and groups navigating anxiety, depression, disordered eating, addiction, career uncertainty, and the emotional weight of chronic pain and illness. She also understands how much harder it can be to quiet that unease when the phone is always within reach, feeding worry at midnight long after everything else has gone still.
Her approach draws on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Family Systems theory, woven together with an interpersonal orientation that keeps the therapeutic relationship itself at the center of the work. She has completed Level I Gottman Method training and has studied Emotionally Focused Therapy, giving her practical tools for couples work alongside her individual and group practice. Joanna also brings experience from years working directly with at-risk youth, which shaped her commitment to personalized, empathetic care.
Clients describe working with Joanna as a process of genuine examination — of beliefs, patterns, and identities — that leaves them better equipped to move through life with clarity and confidence. She offers sessions online, making her accessible across Alberta.
