Marilyn Winters holds a conviction at the centre of her work: that human beings are built to heal, and that adversity, met with the right support, can become a source of genuine growth. As a Registered Social Worker with two decades of experience, she works with individuals, couples, and families across Barrie and Ontario — people carrying the weight of past trauma, the exhaustion of chronic stress, or the quiet ache of feeling disconnected from themselves and the people they love. Whether that worry arrives in a therapist’s office or trails someone through their phone at midnight, Marilyn sees it clearly and meets it with care.
Her practice draws on evidence-based approaches including EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy. She works across a wide range of concerns — trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, abuse, addiction, eating disorders, and workplace burnout — with teenagers, adults, seniors, and individuals with special needs. Online sessions are available throughout Ontario.
Marilyn brings her own experience of hardship into her practice, not as a credential but as a source of empathy. She describes the act of sitting with a client’s story as a privilege she does not take lightly, and her commitment is to offer the kind of steady, respectful presence that makes honest self-examination feel possible.
