Many people arrive at Nancy Hurst’s door carrying a quiet but persistent weight β a sense that something essential has gone missing from their lives. They may feel low, overwhelmed, or stuck in patterns of thought that undercut their confidence and strain the relationships they care most about. For some, that weight is rooted in grief, trauma, or family conflict; for others it shows up as a creeping loss of direction and purpose. Some are surprised to notice how isolated they feel even when their phones are always busy β scrolling, messaging, staying in touch β yet rarely feeling genuinely seen or heard by anyone.
Nancy works with teenagers, young adults, men, and women navigating depression, anxiety, adjustment challenges, and the lasting effects of abuse and trauma. She is a Registered Psychologist with a PhD in Counselling Psychology, practicing in Edmonton, Alberta, with online sessions available for clients beyond the city.
Her approach draws on cognitive behavioural therapy, EMDR, somatic experiencing, humanistic, and positive psychology methods β woven together by a core conviction that people are inherently capable and worthy. Nancy focuses on strengths that clients have lost sight of, helping them grieve what needs to be grieved, shed what no longer serves them, and move toward a life that feels genuinely their own.
